Astropad and Luna Display both run on our proprietary video compression technology we call LIQUID. We spent years engineering LIQUID from the ground up, and every line of LIQUID code was originally written to meet the demands of pro artists. The result is stunning image quality and responsiveness. Here’s what you can expect with LIQUID:

Low latency

Our competitors use traditional video playback technology that was designed for pre-recorded films, where real-time feedback isn’t an issue. But LIQUID is designed to stay highly responsive to real-time input from your iPad at 60 fps, so your devices can keep up with any heavy-duty workflow.

Luna typically sees latency of 16 to 32 milliseconds (ms) over WiFi. Curious how we measure latency? We ran an extensive experiment comparing LIQUID latency and frame rate against competitors like Duet Display and Air Display.

Velocity control

LIQUID features Velocity Control, technology based on the same code used in autopilot systems. Velocity Control analyzes and adapts to your network conditions dozens of times per second, balancing image quality and latency in real-time based on your Wifi performance.

Whether you’re working plugged in or wireless, your iPad will stay highly responsive.

Uncompromised image quality

LIQUID features color corrected output and retina resolution — with no compression artifacts. So what you see on your iPad is the same quality as your Mac.
